What CE results do you need for a budget or paid place?

Roughly what CE results you need for a budget or a paid place, why budget places need more and where to see the numbers for each program.

Updated 4 October 2026

The short answer: it depends on the program

There's no single cut-off. Each program has its own formula and its own competition, and it changes every year. Popular programs in Rīga often need very high results for a , but many others are fine with average ones.

Where to see the numbers for each program

On every program page, in the “Your chances and statistics” section, you can see roughly what result you'd need in all of its for a budget or a . If you'd need over 90% at the , we show the higher level instead – results there count more.

Popular programs in Rīga often need 75–85% or higher-level exams for a budget place, while many others are fine with 50–60%. Many programs take everyone who meets the minimum requirements on paid places.

Why budget places need more

There are fewer budget places, and they're given out first – to applicants with the highest . There are often more paid places, so many programs take everyone who meets the minimum requirements.

How to read these numbers

  • They're our estimates, not official data – schools don't publish the lowest admitted score. We calculate it from the numbers of places and applications and the CE results of all students in Latvia.
  • The number assumes the same result in every exam. In reality a weaker exam can be made up by a stronger one – especially the one with the biggest weight in the program.
  • A higher-level CE result counts in full, an optimal-level one ×0.75. So 60% at the higher level is more than 75% at the optimal level.
  • Competition changes every year, so plan with some margin.
