What it is
The is the number of points a school uses to rank all applicants to a program. The places (budget first, then paid) go to those at the top of the list.
What it's made of
Each program sets its own formula. Most often it's made of results – for example Latvian, math, a foreign language and one subject important for the program. Subjects often have different weights: the exam that matters most for the program counts more.
- Some programs also count the grades on your certificate.
- Art, music, sports and some other programs have an , which can be a big part of the score.
- Olympiads and other achievements sometimes give extra points.
- There are often minimum requirements too – if a CE result is too low, you can't apply.
Why there's no single “cut-off”
The lowest score that still gets in changes every year – depending on how many people apply and how well they did in their CE. So last year's number is only a guide, not a guarantee.
How to find yours
The formula is in the program's admission rules on the school's website. The KurTālāk chance check does it for you: enter your (or expected) CE results and you'll see your score and your approximate chances in each program.
